			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As the 2008-09 school year comes to a close, sports honors and news continues to pour in. Here are some of the latest updates:<span id="more-958"></span></p>
<ul>
<li>Nationally acclaimed Punahou school football athlete <strong>Manti Te&#39;o</strong> of Laie &mdash; who earlier this year made headlines when he accept a full-ride football scholarship from Notre Dame &mdash; was recently named to the 2009 Hawaii High School Athletic Association Foundation Hall of Honor.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><strong>Jray Galea&#39;i</strong> of Laie, a senior football and basketball player at Kahuku High, was also named to the 2009 Hawaii High School Athletic Association Foundation Hall of Honor. Jray has accepted a full-ride football scholarship to BYU.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Kahuku High sophomore <strong>Zhane Santiago</strong> successfully defended her triple jump and 100 hurdles titles in the Island Movers/HHSAA State Track &amp; Field Championships held on May 16 in Keaau, Hawaii. Santiago jumped 36&#39;9&quot; and ran the hurdles in 15.58 seconds to recapture those state titles for the second consecutive year. </li>

<li>Kahuku girls also made their marks in other state track events, including: Zhane Santiago, 3rd, long jump (she was last year&#39;s state champ); <strong>Tajana Santiago</strong>, 4th, 100 hurdles; and 7th in the 4X400 relay.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Kahuku&#39;s <strong>Amber Ah Sue</strong> had the highest finish for the Red Raiders in the 2009 state judo championships at UH on May 9, with a second place in the 154-pound division. Kahuku placers for the boys included: <strong>Gaston Carr</strong>, 6th, 161; <strong>Alika Cannon Smith</strong>, 4th, 198; <strong>Hauoli Jamora</strong>, 2nd, 220; and <strong>Jheryl Makaiau</strong>, 3rd, 275. Other finishers for the girls were: <strong>Darian Auna</strong>, 5th, 103; <strong>Andrinna Ramos</strong>, 5th, 109; and <strong>Reyna Autele</strong>, 6th, 220. Overall the boys team came in 6th in the state, and the girls team was 5th.&nbsp; &nbsp;</li>

<ul>
<li>The defending NCAA II national championship BYU&ndash;Hawaii women&#39;s tennis team, under head coach Dr. <strong>David Porter</strong> of Laie, lost in the second round of this year&#39;s national tournament on May 15 in Altamonte, Florida. The BYUH men&#39;s team lost in the first round of the same tournament.</li>
