As the 2009 fall season progresses, eight-year athletic director Joe Whitford III proudly reported that both the Kahuku High varsity football and girls volleyball teams have each won four matches. More specifically:

Kahuku Plantation homes razed

Five years ago contractors demolished most of the old Kahuku Sugar Mill, including the towering smoke stack — about 35 years after the mill and plantation closed down. This month some of the old plantation homes fronting the mauka side of Kamehameha Highway near St. Roch Catholic Church also became historical footnotes.
