Koolauloa Children's Chorus director Esther Macy reported that the group recently had an "awesome tour" of the U.S. East Coast, that included stops in Washington DC and New York City.

"The choir also sang at St. Paul's Cathedral located near Ground Zero [in New York]. There was a teary-eye moment when we dedicated our last song and hula to the people who died in the 9/11 tragedy. The song was called, Give Us Hope," Macy said.

"But the ultimate choral experience was felt on the last night of the otur when our children sang in Carnegie Hall under the baton of Conductor Emily Ellsworth with over 100 children singers. Our children received three standing ovations," she said. "It was a marvelous experience and everyone knew we were from Hawaii the moment our singers appeared."
