A number of Kahuku High players, and a coach, have recently been recognized for their outstanding efforts in Fall sports:

Red Raiders receive All-State honors

The Honolulu Advertiser named three Kahuku High football players to its 2007 Hawaii All-State and All-Division I Teams: Offensive lineman Benji Kemoeatu; as well as linebacker Paipai Falemalu and defensive back Shiloah Te'o.

The Advertiser also tapped the following for Honorable Mention: Junior Mata'afa, running back; and Anthony Si'ilata and Daniel Kinikini, OL.

The Honolulu Star-Bulletin also named Kemoeatu and Te'o to its All-State First Team, as well as Manti Te'o, a two-time All-State First Team player for Punahou.

Second Team Offense honors went to Kinikini, Si'ilata and Mata'afa. Honorable Mention to St. John Lessary III, running back; Paipai Falemalu, linebacker; Jerome Acoba, DL; and former Koolauloa residents V J Fehoko, a defensive lineman for Farrington, and Abe Markowitz, DL, Punahou.

Eight football players, coach named OIA Red East All-Stars

Oahu Interscholastic Association (OIA) coaches named Kahuku High safety Shiloah Te'o as the Red Conference East Division Defensive Player of the Year, and varsity head football coach Reggie Torres as Coach of the Year. The Red Raiders, who went 6-0 in regular season play, led the league with eight playes named as OIA Red East First Team All-Stars.

Other First Team Kahuku players included running back Junior Mata'afa; O-linemen Benji Kemoeatu, Daniel Kinikini and Anthony Si'ilata; D-linemen Jerome Acoba and Clayson Sauni; and linebacker Paipai Falemalu.

Seven Kahuku players garnered Second Team honors, including running back St. John Lessary and WR Willie Ching; O-lineman Samiu Tonga; D-lineman Alema Tachibana; linebacker Kulia Pickard; and defensive backs Jack Damuni and Jede Malufau

Honorable Mention went to Jerrik Akana, Jray Galea'i, Jordan Kamae, Matt Mata'u and Aulola Tonga.

"Advertiser" All-State volleyball honors

The "Honolulu Advertiser" has named Kahuku outside hitter Leilani Tafuna, a 5'10" senior, to its All-State Girls Volleyball Team. Nile Te'o and Shanile Kaulula'au also received Honorable Mention.

Bob Hogue's 'dream team' includes Koolauloa players

DigitalSports senior sports correspondent Bob Hogue tapped several Koolauloa players as members of his 2007 Hawaii "deam team," including from Kahuku: Benji Kemoeatu, OL; Shiloah Te'o, FS; and Paipai Falemalu, linebacker; also Punahou linebacker Manti Te'o, and former Laie and Hau'ula resident Abe Markowitz, Punahou O-lineman. Former Hau'ula resident VJ Fehoko, who played for Farrington, received honorable mention.
